The United National Party (UNP) yesterday claimed that if President Maithripala Sirisena were to try and form a caretaker government, the UNP had the capability to form a government of its own more conveniently.

Speaking at a press conference held at Sirikotha, MP Thushara Indunil revealed that 15 Sri Lanka Freedom Party members who had left the Government were behind the alleged move. “There are some SLFP MPs who are not ready to work with the corrupt Rajapaksas. They can join the UNP if the President tries to form a caretaker government with the former President,” he added.

He also said that the Coalition Government was committed to fair law enforcement and the arrest of MP Wijekala Maheshwaran was a good example in this regard. (NS)
