Unemployed graduates can appeal if name not in list: Govt.

The Ministry of Public Service, Provincial Councils and Local Government yesterday said graduates whose names are not included in the list of employed graduates can submit their appeals after 2 September.

Secretary to the Ministry J.J. Ratnasiri said the appeals could be made to the Presidential Secretariat or his Ministry. The list of employed graduates was presented on 17 August.

However, some graduates said that although their names were mentioned in the previous list, the name was not mentioned in the document released on Monday.

The Unemployed Graduates Association also staged a protest in Colombo yesterday.

The name list of the graduates who qualified for employment was published online and it can be accessed through the website of the Ministry of Public Service, Provincial Councils and Local Government.

Those who have already received their letters of appointment have been instructed to report to their nearest District Secretariats on 2 September.
