VAT relief for health sector

The Government decided to remove VAT from medical consultation fees, channelling charges, and medical practitioners’ charges effective from July 2018, Cabinet Co-Spokesperson Dr. Rajitha Senaratne told reporters yesterday. However the VAT component of hospital room charges will remain.

The decision was taken after taking into considering requests from key stakeholders, the Minister told reporters at the Cabinet briefing. (CD)
