The Day of Vesak was celebrated by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Lebanon on 28 and 29 April.
The event was organised by the Embassy in collaboration with the ‘Bodu Ekamuthuwa’ of Lebanon, the Sri Lanka Army contingent at UNIFIL in Nakura and the Sri Lankan community living in Lebanon. The chancery premises were decorated with traditional Vesak lanterns, Buddhist flags and colourful lights.
The morning program started with a Dhamma sermon by Ven. Uninduwela Sirisumana Thero who had been flown from Sri Lanka specially for the Vesak Program and an alms giving at the UNIFIL Sri Lankan Army camp in Nakura.
The evening program was held at the Embassy, followed by a ‘Bhodhi puja’ by Ven. Uninduwela Sirisumana Thero. The program started with the welcome speech by T. Luxmidharan, Second Secretary (Labour) of the Embassy. P. Ariyasena, Counsellor (SLBFE) speaking on behalf of the Ambassador stressed the importance and value of the Vesak day.
This event was attended by approximately 300 devotees. All participants were served with tea and snacks.
