Vesak celebrated in Amman with religious program and interfaith dialogue

Vesak was celebrated at the premises of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Amman, Jordan on 29 April with a full day program. 

The program included the observance of Ata Sil, Dhamma sermons, meditation sessions, and a Dansela. The Embassy had been decorated to create the Vesak festive atmosphere. 

Hundreds of devotees who attended the program were clad in white symbolising peace and harmony. 

An interfaith dialogue with the participation of eminent religious scholars representing the faiths of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism and Islamic was also held as part of the Vesak program. Ven. Kudakathnoruwe Vineetha Thero, Lecturer at the University of Sri Jayawardenepura conducted the religious program. Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Jordan, A.L.M. Lafeer also made brief remarks at the celebration.
