Visiting Muslim World League Rep. urges peaceful co-existence with other communities

A visiting religious dignitary from Saudi Arabia,  said here that peaceful co-existence with other communities is imperative for the development of a nation.

Dr Ahmed Hamad Jilan, Advisor, East Asian Nations for Muslim World League (MWL) in Makkah, was speaking  to the press following his meeting with the Western Province Governor Azath S Salley at the governor’s office on Monday evening. 

Jilan also visited the Islamic Center in Colombo and attended a dinner banquet hosted by its President and former City Father, Hussein Mohamed at the Hotel Taj in Colombo on the same day.The dignitary was accompanied by Mashoor Mowlana  based in Riyadh. 

The Muslim World League is an international non-governmental Islamic organization based in the Holy City of Makkah. It aims to present the true Islam and its tolerant principles, provide humanitarian aid, extend bridges of dialogue and cooperation with all, engage in positive openness to all cultures and civilizations, follow the path of centrism and moderation to realize the message of Islam and ward off movements calling for extremism, violence and exclusion for a world full of peace, justice and coexistence.

Speaking further Jilan said  the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia , Mohammed Bin Salman follows  a moderate path by respecting the values of all other faiths for the progress of the Kingdom. 

“ Islam believes in tolerance, compromise, peace and brotherhood among all ethnic groups ,” Jilan stressed. 

He also said that Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, whom he had met earlier, is a man of vision and a dedicated leader who would like to serve all people without any form of discrimination.

In response to Jilan’s statement, Governor Azath Salley said that the country’s President Maithripala Sirisena strongly believes in communal harmony for the progress of the nation and he is interested in setting up 10 exemplary schools to accommodate students from all faiths to study under one roof.He is also making an all out effort to fight against drug abuse which is being successfully carried out with the support of the people.
