State Finance Minister Shehan Semasinghe assured yesterday that there will be no delay in the implementation of the Aswesuma Welfare Benefit program following the resignation of the Welfare Benefit Board Chairman.

“The board consists of the Chairman and four other members. Former Chairman B.Wijayaratne has informed the President that he is resigning from office due to personal reasons. Jayantha Wijeratne, a special grade retired civil servant has been recommended to the Constitutional Council as the new Chairman,” he noted via Twitter.

Wijayaratne confirmed that he tendered his resignation on Tuesday.

The State Minister said the resignation of the Chairman does not prevent the payment for beneficiaries after completing the requirements, including the opening of accounts or starting the proceedings for verification of objections and appeals.

“It is requested from the eligible candidates to complete the bank requirement as early as possible,” he urged.
