Plans are underway to digitise the functions of the offices of the Western Provincial Council and set up a common network to facilitate smoother functions.
Western Province Governor Azath Salley said that such a system would save time and ease work stress of officers through a paperless operation.
The Governor was present at his office auditorium on Thursday to listen to a presentation made by Sri Lanka Oracle which had come out with a definite plan to suit the needs of the various offices of the Provincial Council.
The Western Province Council includes the Chief Secretary’s Office, five ministries, the Governor’s Office, Office of the Public Service Commission and the Secretariat.
Salley said that such a system would help all the 86,000 employees attached to these offices, which would cut down costs, time and stress of the workers.
The Governor explained that the officers need not travel to various offices within the Provincial Council, as such a system would help them get their approvals online among the relevant departments. The new system would provide internet solutions to all users within the Provincial Council, the Governor concluded.
