Zahran’s brother-in-law arrested

The mastermind of the Easter Sunday attacks, Zahran Hashim’s brother-in-law was arrested on Monday night in Kekunugolla, Katupotha, Police said.

According to the Police, M. Abdul Cader Azeem, 28, the suspect, has been identified as the elder brother of Zahran’s wife.

Investigations have shown that his aunt had been married to Naufer Moulavi, who had been arrested in connection with an extremist group involved in the bombings on 21 April.

He is also believed to have received training with Zahran at a training camp in Nuwara Eliya.

The arrest had been carried out by officers attached to the Colombo Crimes Division at around 10.30 p.m.
