Additional Rs. 4,500 allowance for Police officers

Sri Lanka Police Department has taken measures to provide a minimum of Rs. 4,500 as an additional allowance to all grades in the Department with effect from yesterday.

Police Media Spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prishantha Jayakody said additional allowances will be given for travelling, clothing, rural area service, cleaning and long term service.

Additionally the Officers-In-Charge (OICs) of police stations will be given a special allowance ranging from a minimum of Rs. 2,500 to a maximum of Rs. 6,000 based on their service grade.

The additional allowance has been granted under the President’ Mahinda Rajapaksa’s 2013 Budget proposal.
