Advancing arbitration

Graham Massie, consultant retained by the World Bank to prepare a business plan for the proposed International Arbitration Centre in Colombo, briefed the Minister of Justice and SLMC Leader Rauff Hakeem on the feasibility of the setting up of the centre.

Minister Hakeem and the WB delegation accompanied by Massie discussed in detail the modalities and the setting up of the centre, infrastructure facilities and the marketing aspects. Massie is expected to meet up with several stakeholders in the arbitration sector in Sri Lanka and senior officers of the Attorney General’s Department. Ministry Secretary Kamalani De Silva, Senior Assistant Secretary (Legal) Anusha Munasinghe, Consultant (Legal) M.H.M. Salman and Coordinating Secretary A.R.M. Mansoor also participated.
