AG asks for more time to decide on former Army Commander’s case

The Attorney General has requested the Colombo High Court for more time to decide on a case concerning former Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka. The Attorney General has sought more time to decide whether to withdraw or continue the case against General Fonseka on charges of harbouring Army deserters.   General Fonseka had earlier asked the court to dismiss the case filed against him citing that the charges were baseless. The Attorney General has said that a decision on the case would be taken after hearing the evidence of a an army officer. The respective officer has been served notice to appear in court on 9 March.
