AG indicts Basil on misappropriation of Rs.33 m

The Attorney General (AG) yesterday served indictment against former Economic Affairs Minister Basil Rajapaksa and three others on the allegation of misappropriating Rs.33 million in Divi Neguma funds meant for distributing asbestos sheets for Divi Neguma beneficiaries during the past presidential election period.

AG has lodged another four charges against the four including Rajapaksa, in relation to Divi Neguma funds. Rajapaksa was seen on Friday morning at the Colombo High Court to appear for the first hearing of the case. The next hearing was fixed for 30 August.
