Governing United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) says the party would win the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) given the support it receives from all ethnic, religious and social groups in the city.
UPFA General Secretary and Minister Susil Premajayanth said the UPFA would record a sweeping victory at the CMC elections on 8 October under the party’s mayoral candidate Milinda Moragoda.
He notes that the UPFA has so far managed to win over five sixth of the local government bodies in the country.
Referring to the action plan released by Moragoda for the CMC, the UPFA General Secretary said that the highly ambitious programme covers the woes of the Colombo City and the people.
According to Premajayanth, the entire country could witness the current transformation the CMC is undergoing.
The ultimate goal of the UPFA is to make Colombo the ‘Centre of Excellence’ in Asia, he said.
