Sri Lanka Supreme Court has decided today to consider all the fundamental rights petitions filed against the leadership training programme for the university students on the same day.

Accordingly, the petitions will be considered on 30 May, the Supreme Court said.

The Supreme Court came to this decision when the fundamental rights petition filed by the Students for Human Rights was taken up for consideration yesterday.

It was revealed in the Supreme Court that five petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court now against the leadership training programme jointly organised by the Higher Education Ministry and Defence Ministry and conducted in 28 military camps across the country.

The Supreme Court last week directed the Attorney General to postpone the training programme for new entrants to universities by a week.

However, President Mahinda Rajapaksa launched the programme on Monday (23) for the first batch of the new entrants. (www.colombopage.com)
