Alleged job cheater remanded

A man who is alleged to have defrauded Rs. 2.8 million of four complainant parties by promising to provide employment opportunities in Singapore was remanded till 2 May by a Colombo Fort Acting Magistrate Sampath Gamage yesterday.

Lodging four complaints with Criminal Investigations Department, four youths had alleged that the suspect had committed criminal breach of trust with regard to Rs. 2.8 million.

The complainants alleged that the suspect promised them with foreign job opportunities in Singapore and collected an amount of Rs. 700,000 from each complainant. They further alleged that though the suspect collected money on the promise of getting them foreign job opportunities the suspect failed to do so or to return the money taken from them.
