Aluthgama rebuilding operations in progress: Brigadier Wanigasooriya

Around 100 houses and seven shops have been completely renovated and handed over to their owners which were severely damaged during the communal riots in Aluthgama and Beruwala last month. Director of the Media Centre of Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya said that Among the remaining houses and shops which are to be reconstructed, 103 houses and 25 shops are under rebuilding process. Security Force Headquarters, West of the Sri Lanka Army is entrusted with the arduous challenge together with Sri Lanka Navy and Air Force. During the unrest a total number of 210 houses and 84 shops were damaged.
