Ambassador Admiral Karannagoda speaks of experiences in aftermath of Japan’s earthquake

The Ambassador also spoke of his experiences in Japan in the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake of 11 March 2011 and the friendly assistance rendered by Sri Lanka by way of a Sri Lankan disaster relief team, donations of Ceylon Tea and USD 1 million to the Japan Red Cross. Caption: Ambassador Admiral Karannagoda speaks of the bonds of friendship between Sri Lanka and Japan This event, originally titled ‘International Cooperation Festival’, is considered the largest event on international cooperation in Japan and has been co-organised every year since 1990 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the Japan NGO Centre for International Cooperation (JANIC). The name of the event was changed to the ‘Global Festa Japan’ in 2005 to encourage the young generation and those who are not familiar with international cooperation to participate in the event.
