Ambassador Keshap inspects US funded projects in Polonnaruwa and Trinco

DSC_0034 DSC_0252 USEmb05202016_1 USEmb05202016_2US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Atul Keshap and a group of representatives visited Polonnaruwa and Trincomalee districts for two days to look at the progress of the development projects funded by the United States. 

Issuing a press release the Provincial Councils and Local Government Ministry added the purpose of the visit was to look at issues pertaining to underprivileged villages in Polonnaruwa and Trincomalee districts.

The ministry noted first they have visited Wandingawewwa School, a mushroom farm in Medirigiriya, Polonnaruwa General Hospital and Gal Viharaya. 

Meanwhile, a presentation was done by the Divisional Secretariat in front of the diplomats regarding the issues in Medirigiriya. 

On the second day they visited Koneshwaram Kovil. Then they distributed deeds of lands in Kinniya and school equipment to the students in Sampoor Maha Vidyalaya.

The visit was organised by Provincial Councils and Local Government Minister Faiszer Musthapha following an instruction by President Maithripala Sirisena. 

The Director of the Office of US Foreign Assistance Resources Hari Sastry, Eastern Province Governor Austin Fernando and the Secretary of the Ministry of Provincial Councils and Local Government Kamal Padmasiri participated at the visit. (CG)
