Ambassadors of Korea and Palestine bid farewell to Sri Lanka

The Ambassadors of Korea and Palestine made separate farewell calls on Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees on Thursday.
The Ambassador of Korea to Sri Lanka Jong-moon Choi thanked President Rajapaksa for his support and also stated that the President’s state visit to Korea in 2012 was a success in strengthening relations between the two countries.
For example, there are now direct flights between the two nations and about 25,000 Sri Lankans are working in Korea Choi recalled.
Ambassador of Palestine in Sri Lanka Dr. Anwar H. Al Agha paying a farewell call on the President this morning spoke of his hesitation to leave Sri Lanka after serving here for many years.
“I’m feeling sad to leave Sri Lanka,” said Dr. Agha. “There will always be good memories. The people are very kind. It’s a lovely country.”
While thanking President Rajapaksa for his support during the ambassador’s tenure, Dr. Agha also thanked the President for his support to “the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people”.
“We were very happy to see you in Palestine so you can see the actual situation,” Dr. Agha said, especially since President Rajapaksa has been a long-time supporter of Palestine.
President Rajapaksa made a two-day state visit to Palestine in January of this year.
Minister of External Affairs Prof. G.L. Peiris, President’s Chief-of-Staff Gamini Senarath and Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs Kshenuka Seneviratne were present.
