Ashirwada Pooja in Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara to mark President’s completion of 10,000 days in Parlia

An Ashirwada Pooja (a ceremony to invoke blessings) was held at the Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara on 02 August to mark President Maithripala Sirisena’s completion of 10,000 days in parliamentary politics as well as to invoke blessings on the country and the people.

The President, who arrived in the Rajamaha Viharaya participated in religious observances and later joined in the Ashirwada Pooja.

The ceremony was organised by the Ministry of Mass Media under the guidance of the Chief Incumbent of the Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara Ven. Dr Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangarakkitha Thero.

The Maha Sangha including the Chief Sanghanayaka Thera of Gampaha Ven. Kotuwila Vimalakiththi Nayaka Thera, the Chief Incumbent of Sri Pada Ven. Bengamuwe Dhammadinna Thera, Ven. Kotapola Amarakitti Nayaka Thera, ministers, MPs, State officials, foreign delegates and many took part in the event.

President Maithripala Sirisena became a member of the parliament (MP) on 15 February 1989.
