Bandula rebuts Opposition bunkum

Dismissing Opposition claims, outgoing Presidential Spokesman Bandula Jayasekara yesterday confirmed that President Mahinda Rajapaksa will present the 2013 Budget today in Parliament as planned.

Soon after Dr. Sarath Amunugama was appointed as Deputy Finance Minister, UNP MP Dr. Harsha de Silva alleged that given the likely embarrassment of having to make amendments to the Appropriation Bill, the President who is also Finance Minister was unlikely to present the 2013 Budget.

“Opposition talk is all bunkum. These desperate economic hit-men in the Opposition want to create mischief and uncertainty,” charged Jayasekara, who is taking up as Consul General in Sydney, Australia, with the rank of Ambassador shortly.
