By Chamodi Gunawardana Former Economic Development Minister and National Organiser of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Basil Rajapaksa will return to Sri Lanka today to participate in the Parliamentary session this week. Rajapaksa left the country soon after the defeat of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the 8 January presidential poll. He also resigned from various positions he held. Rajapaksa had informed SLFP General Secretary Anura Priyadarshana Yapa officially about his resignation and had been granted leave from Parliament for three months. Rajapaksa’s return is amidst the Police Financial Crime Investigation Division instituting action against him for alleged misappropriation of State funds including Divi Neguma Department bonuses, spending its funds for the propaganda campaign of the past presidential election and spending another Rs. 70 million to hold a conference. Sources said on his return Rajapaksa should give a statement to the Police Financial Crime Investigation Division.
