Three weeks ahead of a major Commonwealth summit that will bring world leaders to Colombo, the hard-line Bodu Bala Sena organisation has recommenced its anti-Halal agitation campaign, saying a compromise on the Islamic food labelling reached this year was a sham.
The monk led group relaunched its anti-Halal campaign with a motorcade that left Colombo last morning and made its way up to Kandy, where a special religious ceremony was held before the Sacred Temple of the Tooth, to evoke blessings for the agitation.
The BBS motorcade departed for Kandy from the Buddhist Centre in Kirulapone last morning.
