Reasserts pledge to support President Rajapaksa at election
Controversial Bodu Bala Sena monk Galagodaththe Gnanasara has accused Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Leader Rauff Hakeem of being a ‘political prostitute’.
Gnanasara, who was speaking one day after the SLMC quit the ruling alliance and pledged its support to Opposition candidate Maithripala Sirisena, accused Hakeem of being part of a grand conspiracy together with the Tamil National Alliance to separate the country.
Gnanasara said the BBS remained resolute about its decision to support President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the 8 January election.
“The BBS has unanimously decided that all of its organisations will fully support the re-election of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. That has not changed,” the BBS General Secretary said. Gnansara Thero said that the BBS made the decision to endorse President Rajapaksa in order to save the country from “disaster”. “We must support the ruling Government to defeat the filthy alliance,” Gnanasara Thero charged.
