vThe foremost academic institute in Colombo that imparts knowledge in international relations and diplomatic affairs, the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS), is commencing a series of informal discussions on International Relations, themed ‘IR Evenings,’ from June 2012.

The first discussion of the series will take place on 29 June at 5p.m. at the BCIS. The session will be on ‘Future of the Indian Ocean Geo-Politics and Sri Lanka’ and will be conducted by a former BCIS Director Dr. Harinda Vidanage.

Commenting on this new addition to BCIS’s value portfolio, BCIS Director Professor W.I Siriweera said, “To be an informed citizen in a globalised society, knowledge on international affairs and current global politics is of paramount importance. To cater to this requirement, BCIS is commencing an open-house informal lecture series on a monthly basis to provide an impartial platform for the students of BCIS and the general public including school children to update their knowledge on International affairs with the help of academics, policy makers and diplomats based in Colombo.”
