The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) in its continuing endeavour to foster financial excellence and world class expertise in the country, strengthened its ties with the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) – the apex body of accountants – and International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC).
CA Sri Lanka President Sujeewa Rajapakse and Vice President Arjuna Herath met with Warren Allen, President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and Ian Ball, Chief Executive Officer IFAC, at the IFAC Council meeting held recently in Cape Town, South Africa to discuss matters of mutual interest. CA Sri Lanka officials also met with Prof. Mervyn King, Chairman – International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) during this period.
CA Sri Lanka, the national body of accountants, is a full member of IFAC and has its representation in many regional accounting bodies. The institute, in its capacity as the sole authority in promulgating accounting and auditing standards in the country, has been playing a pioneering role in ensuring that Sri Lanka is at the forefront in terms of its financial infrastructure that enable the country’s growth drive.
