CHA National Consultations today

The Humanitarian Forum in partnership the Consortium of Humanitarian Agencies (CHA) will host a National Consultation on 10 June in Colombo.

The Colombo Consultation is conducted as preparations for the World Humanitarian Summit 2016 (WHS-2016) in Turkey. It will be held at the Auditorium of Bandaranaike Center for International Studies (BCIS) commencing 9 a.m. with the participation of Policy Planning and Economic Affairs Deputy Minister Dr. Harsha De Silva. 

The first WHS to be organised by the United Nations, it will take place in 2015 May in Istanbul, Turkey.

The national level consultations will be attended by participants from many sectors contributing to the humanitarian field, from community-based organisations, Government, NGOs, the private sector, as well as service organisations and volunteers.  

It is expected to give a national perspective while tabling the community recommendations to the summit on thematic areas, the Colombo event looks to strengthen the role of civil society organisations in reaching new heights and goals in the humanitarian field.

The 2016 Istanbul Forum aims to map out a humanitarian agenda for the future that is more effective and inclusive, and which addresses the significant challenges facing the world.
