Charitha Herath’s book with collection of articles on governance launch today

79The book titled “Nuthana Kumaraya” (modern prince) containing a collection of articles on governance and critiques of the ‘ideologies’ that the current Government is based on written by professional Charitha Herath will be launched today in Colombo.

The book also discusses the ongoing debate of ‘future of SLFP’ and influence of such debate in democratic governance in Sri Lanka. Charitha mentions that the contents of the book were his responses and interventions to the ongoing political discussion. He has also stated that the articles were written after the new Government took office by 8 January 2015. 

Charitha Herath is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Philosophy and Psychology, at University of Peradeniya. He was in the public sector as the Permanent Secretary (2012-2015) to the Ministry of Media and Information in the Mahinda Rajapaksa Government. Prior to that, Charitha was heading the country’s environmental regulating authority, Central Environmental Agency as the Chairman (2010-2012).  

Charitha Herath has completed his Post Graduate degrees from Ohio University in Athens Ohio USA (2000-2003) and Shichuan Union University in Chengdu, China (1997-99). Prior to graduate studies he has done his undergraduate degree on Philosophy at the University of Peradeniya in 1990-1994.
