China congratulates Karu on appointment of Speaker

Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China Zhang Dejiang has extended his congratulations to Karu Jayasuriya on his election as Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka

In his message of congratulations, Zhang Dejiang mentioned that China and Sri Lanka are good friends and partners. The two countries have enjoyed a good and stable bilateral relationship, the exchanges and cooperation in various fields between the two countries have also been strengthened, which has brought benefits for the two peoples. Zhang expressed his willingness to work with Karu Jayasuria to further deepen the cooperation between the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China and the Parliament of Sri Lanka, consolidate the traditional friendship, and push the China-Sri Lanka Strategic Cooperation Partnership featuring sincere mutual  support and long-lasting friendship to a new height.
