The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) yesterday informed Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya that the diplomatic passport and National Identity Card (NIC) of former Minister Wimal Weerawansa’s wife Shashi Weerawansa were forged.
The CID said its investigations had revealed that Weerawansa, alias Ranasinghe Mudiyanselage Shehani Udayakanthi alias Ranasinghe Randunu Mudiyanselage Sirsha Udayakanthi, had obtained her passport by submitting a forged identity card.
The CID also informed court that the Attorney General’s advice would be sought with regard to the next course of action to be taken against Weerawansa.
