The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) yesterday recorded a statement from the son-in-law of General Sarath Fonseka, Danuna Thilakaratne on the Hicorp deal, following a court order. After giving the statement, Thilakaratne told the media that he was not fully aware about allegations that were made against him. “The case against me was originally filed in 2010. But it was dangerous to reveal myself at that time. But with the current situation in the country I felt that it would be safe to appear before the court,” he said. Thilakaratne who was released on bail, is prohibited from leaving the country.
