Clashes between Muslim groups in Kalmunai

The police are investigating a clash which occurred between two groups in Kalmunai on Monday night over a land dispute. Police spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that the clash had occurred between two Muslim groups including members of the Sri Lanka Thawheed Jama’ath. The clash had occurred when members of the Sri Lanka Thawheed Jama’ath had attempted to construct a building on the disputed land. Another Muslim group had opposed the construction of the building and attacked those involved in the construction work. SSP Ajith Rohana said that a police complaint was lodged over the incident at the Kalmunai police station and an investigation has been launched. (Colombo Gazette)
