The Colombo Municipal Council will launch its ‘Eradication of Dengue thorough Awareness Campaign’ on 12 May at 9 a.m. at the Town Hall.

It has scheduled house-to-house, ward-to-ward and district-to-district awareness programs, cleaning up of drains, etc., shramadhanas and an advertising campaign promoting awareness as many people are unaware of the breeding process of this deadly mosquito.

With the help and contribution of all the citizens and by keeping our neighbourhood clean, we can reach our mutual goal of eradicating the dengue mosquitoes.

In a statement issued last evening, Mayor of Colombo A. J. M. Muzammil said: “It is important that we get rid of mosquito breeding sites as soon as possible. The majority of the patients are children. The only way to prevent dengue outbreaks is to manage the environment and prevent mosquito-breeding. Think of your family and your neighbours and start inspecting your premises for places in which dengue mosquito could breed. This is a task that all citizens in the city should carry out.”
