A commemorative cover was issued last week at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Sri Lankan and China and the 65th anniversary of the signing of the rubber and rice trade agreement between the two countries.

This commemorative cover was handed over to Sri Lankan Ambassador to China Dr. Karunasena Kodituwakku by Secretary General of the China National Philatelic Corporation, Ma Xiaoling, who is also the designer of the cover. Embassy staff were also present at the occasion.

The cover carries two emblems of Sri Lanka and China and consists of two stamps of both countries. On the back of the cover there is a brief description of bilateral relations between China and Sri Lanka.

60,000 commemorative covers were issued by the China National Philatelic Corporation with one cover costing 2.2 RMB. They will be available to the Chinese public.
