The joint proposal made by Prof G.L. Peiris, Minister of External Affairs and Dilan Perera, Minister of Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare, to establish a Sri Lanka Consulate General in Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was approved by the Cabinet last week.
It is estimated that around 75,000 Sri Lankans are presently employed in Dammam, the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is a promising destination for Sri Lankan workers with much potential for foreign employment opportunities in the service, industrial and the health sectors.
