Consumer rights activists claim tender fraud at Lady Ridgeway canteen

The National Movement for Consumer Rights’ Protection (NMCRP) yesterday demanded Health Services Director General Dr. Palitha Mahipala instigate an inquiry into an alleged fraud on tenders called for by the Lady Ridgeway Hospital canteen.

NMCRP alleged recently the hospital had announced tenders for the canteen; however the tender had been given to the same person who had carried on the canteen earlier.

It further claimed tender selection had been done by submitting false documents.

NMCRP added the hospital canteen was selling unhealthy food full of artificial colors and flavors for expensive prices.

They urged the Director General to consider the matter and give an immediate solution.
