Court orders release of ship to company

The Galle Harbour Master was ordered by Galle Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura yesterday to release the Mahanuwara vessel to its owner Ceylon Shipping Lines Ltd, which was anchored in the Galle port under the Avant Garde Maritime Service.

The Magistrate issued the order due to a motion lodged by the owner company alleging that the Galle Harbour Master did not follow the instruction of the Court which had been given earlier to release the ship.

The previous Court order, which was issued to allow the owner to transfer the weapons of the Mahanuwara vessel to a new ship as the shipping firm, claimed the ship on which the Avant Garde floating armoury was located needed to repair due to some damages.
