Court to take up Wimal bail application on 6 February

Colombo High Court Judge Manilal Waidyathilaka yesterday fixed for 6 February an inquiry into a bail application filed in court for NFF Leader and Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa. The petitioner had sought a revision to the Fort Magistrate’s order to remand Weerawansa till 7 February. It was alleged that Weerawansa, while being a Minister in the former regime, had misappropriated 40 vehicles belonging to the State, causing a loss of Rs. 9 million. He was charged under the Public Property Act.
