Cuba, Sri Lanka to strengthen bilateral ties

Havana: Cuba has reiterated its support to Sri Lanka in international fora to address issues of interest to the regional and international agenda. Cuba’s Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel has received Minister Susil Premajayantha, who is currently in Havana as a special envoy of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, and assured the Minister of Cuba’s support, the Prensa Latina news agency reported. During the meeting they have discussed on the good relations of friendship and cooperation between Sri Lanka and Cuba, and reiterated their willingness to work for the strengthening of the ties between the two countries. They have also addressed issues of interest to the regional and international agenda and agreed the stances to be adopted in multilateral forums. Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Cuba K.S.C. Dissanayake, Cuba’s Deputy Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra and other Foreign Ministry officials attended the meeting.
