Deputy South African President Cyril Ramaphosa says his recent visit to Sri Lanka, during which he had talks with the Government and the Opposition, was successful. Ramaphosa has told the South African Parliament that South Africa was invited to share its experiences on the truth and reconciliation and constitution-building process with the people of Sri Lanka. He recalled that his delegation interacted with President Mahinda Rajapaksa, members of his government and leaders of the opposition, including the leadership of the Tamil National Alliance. “We are motivated by our firm conviction that only by working together and solving problems through negotiation, can we achieve peace and prosperity in Africa and beyond. This informs our involvement in South Sudan and Sri Lanka,” he added. Ramaphosa visited Sri Lanka during the beginning of this month and looked to help Sri Lanka become a stable country following the war and to consolidate the peace. (Colombo Gazette)
