“Over several decades in the past, the aspirations of the youth had been shattered to a great extent and the frustrated youth of those days had become the victims of selfish, opportunist and narrow minded political elements. Due to the shortsighted futile principles of many political parties, a great number of youth of those days were unfortunately and tragically destroyed in the prime of their youth. 60,000 young men and women in the South had to die due to the misguidance of the then politicians,” Rajapaksa said.
“However, President Mahinda Rajapakse who promised a dignified freedom from LTTE terrorism to the Sri Lankans in 2005 kept his promise as he assured the people in the Presidential elections. Since 2010, a real re awakening in almost all fields with regard to highways, industries, airports, harbours has taken place in the country up to now. Many massive irrigation projects and subsidy schemes have been introduced and implemented through the country assuring a better tomorrow for our future youth who will be the heirs of this motherland,” the MP added.
He also said all Sri Lankan youth would be equipped with trilingual skills and vocational training skills to meet the requirements of human resources locally and internationally. Long term development projects that are being launched by now will bring results and benefits in the time to come for our future citizens. The sole objective of the President is to create a better future generation filled with noble human values, skills and a far-sighted vision.
Namal also said Dayasiri Jayasekara who represented the UNP as parliamentarian of the Kurunegala District decided to join the government as he honestly needed to serve the people of Wayamba. “He is a very talented, active, honest, popular and young politician. I am confident that he can create a better tomorrow for the people of Wayamba when he is elected to the Wayamba PC on the 21st of this month,” the MP added.
