Defence Services College to get new hostel facility

State Minister of DefenceRuwan Wijewardene was the Chief Guest at a foundation stone laying ceremony for a new hostel for the Defence Services College(DSC) at the 6 Engineer Services Regiment premises in Colombo yesterday.

Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Eng. KarunasenaHettiarachchi was also present at the occasion.

Upon his arrival at the location, State Minister Wijewardene was welcomed by the school’s Principal DhammikaJayanetti.

The State Minister of Defence together with the Secretary, tri-forces Commanders, representatives of Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Education laid the foundation stone at the auspicious moment amidst the chanting of pirithby the Venerable MahaSangha.

The proposed four-storeyhostel building is to be constructed at the 6 Engineer Services Regiment premises located opposite the DSC. Once complete the new building will accommodate 554 students. The project is expected to be completed in October 2017.

Members of the MahaSanga, senior tri-forces officers, school staff and a large number of students were also present at the occasion.
