Delimitation report takes another wrong turn

Provincial Councils and Local Government Minister Faiszer Musthapha yesterday refused to accept the final Delimitation report, claiming that it lacked signatures of two Committee members. 

 “I give time for the Delimitation Committee to get the others signs and submit the report as soon as possible,” he said. 

The Chairman of the Committee Asoka Peiris later told reporters that the two members in question had wanted more time to review the report given to them on Saturday before signing. 

The Minister is said to have cut short his holiday to be present to accept the report. State Minister for Provincial Councils and Local Government SLFP Parliamentarian Priyankara Jayaratne resigned from his post last week, leaving no political authority to accept the report.
