Democratic Party to ink agreement with UNP today

The Democratic Party of Sri Lanka led by Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka is scheduled to join the United National Front today, Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva said.

Discussions are in place as to what action would be initiated in the future, the Minister said.

A spokesman for the Democratic Party said the related agreement is scheduled to be inked at Temple Trees today afternoon.

Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka is expected to be appointed as a member of parliament to fill the seat left behind by the demise of Minister of Lands M.K.D.S. Gunawardena.
