United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Parliamentarian Tissa Karaliyadda yesterday decided to resign from his Deputy Ministerial portfolio of Buddha Sasana and Democratic Governance. He stated that steps were taken to inform the Parliament regarding his decision. Speaking to media, he said that he resigned from his Deputy Ministerial post because he could not work with the United National Party (UNP) and he could not just be a “pambaya” (scarecrow). He was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Buddha Sasana and Democratic Governance on 22 March with 25 other Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Parliamentarians who were all appointed as ministers or deputy ministers.
