Caritas Sri Lanka will hold a discussion on the theme ‘National reconciliation: Where are we now?’ to be held on today, 25, at 3 p.m. at Caritas Sri Lanka SEDEC Auditorium, Kynsey Road.
Guest speakers include Dr. Dayan Jayathilaka, Prof. Savithri Gunesekera and Prof. Kumar David. An open forum/discussion will follow.
“Almost five years have passed since the end of the war in 2009. When we look back on the achievements and failures on what has been done on promoting healing and reconciliation, various factors have contributed to the present situation. Internal and external factors like delay in the implementation of the recommendations of LLRC, lopsided polarisation of political parties, international pressure on Sri Lanka have delayed the process of healing and reconciliation,” said Fr. George Sigamoney, National Director, Caritas Sri Lanka SEDEC.
