Embassy in US sets up hotline for Hurricane-hit Lankans

Having considered the adverse weather conditions caused by Hurricane Irene in the Eastern Coast and the devastation it could produce, Sri Lanka’s Embassy in the US has opened a hotline for all Sri Lankans and Sri Lankan Americans to contact Embassy officials around the clock if required.

Under the directions of Ambassador Jaliya Wickramasuriya, Embassy officials are on continuous watch with a view to provide maximum possible assistance to any Sri Lankans who may be affected by the adverse weather conditions. The Embassy has requested the assistance of Sri Lankans in the U.S. to convey this message to all Sri Lankans residing in the danger areas, in the path of the hurricane.

The hotline will be in operation until the hurricane passes U.S. borders.
