Embilipitiya UC Chairman removed

Embilipitiya Urban Council Chairman Ven Wevelduwe Gnanapraba Thera was temporarily removed from the post by Sabaragamuwa Chief Minister Maheepala Herath. UC Vice Chairman W.G. Lalith Dharmakeerthi has been appointed to execute the powers of the Chairman. The UC Chairman has been removed by Maheepala Herath by the powers vested in him as the Chief Minister of the Province. The relevant special gazette notification was published yesterday. The gazette notification also states that a retired judicial officer is investigating whether Ven. Wevelduwe Gnanapraba Thera is responsible for any misconduct while serving as the UC Chairman.
