EU Ambassador to visit north

European Union Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives David Daly will be visiting EU-funded projects in Mannar, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi Districts next week. The aim of the visit is to witness the successful implementation of EU projects and to speak with communities which benefit from them. During the visit, Ambassador Daly will hold meetings with Government representatives, including Government Agents of all districts. Projects related to agriculture, housing, education and community infrastructure in the districts will be visited by Ambassador Daly during this mission. Prior to the visit, Ambassador Daly said: “During my first official visit to the north of the country, I look forward to seeing how the EU is helping Sri Lanka in its priorities of reconciliation, reconstruction and economic development on the ground. I will also take the opportunity to experience the diverse culture and traditions of the region.” The EU has provided Rs. 94 billion funding to Sri Lanka since 2005.
